Due to ongoing water system issues, the Sherando Lake Recreation Area water system is closed as of 11 a.m . on Saturday, July 29.
All camping loop restrooms and showers will remain closed until mid-day Sunday, July 30. Day use and camping activities are available, but there is no running water or restrooms. Porta Potties are in place at each camping loop.
The Beach Bathouse will remain closed until futher notice. Porta Potties are available at the beach.
Due to a water leak, demand for water is outpacing the water reservoir’s ability to refill. The Forest Service is working to determine the water leak location and move quickly to repair it. We thank the public for their patience. Recreation.gov has been updated to alert those with reservations.
The public is advised to bring ample water supplies if visiting.
