Fire managers plan to conduct a prescribed burn on Glade Mountain in Smyth County this Sunday, March 19, 2023, if weather conditions are appropriate. Forest Roads 86 and 644 and a section of the Appalachian National Scenic Trail %3AAT%3A will be temporarily closed during burn operations for public safety. Trail and road closure signs will be posted, and a shuttle service will be available to hikers during burn operations to/from the Mount Rogers National Recreation Area Headquarters %3A3714 Highway 16, Marion, VA 24354%3A and the Settlers Museum %3A1322 Rocky Hollow Rd, Atkins, VA 24311%3A during burn operations and into the following day.
